Going Home
Checking out and discharge
Because the hospital admits and discharges many patients every day, your room will be assigned to another patient shortly after you leave. If you find that you may be delayed, please tell your nurse as early in the day as possible so that alternate arrangements may be made in preparing for new admissions.
In preparation for discharge, the staff will help you plan your return home. You will receive instructions about follow-up care, such as diet, medications, level of activity and follow-up appointments with your physician. A nurse and physician will review these instructions with you. Please be sure to ask them about any concerns you may have. Medications can be filled at the third-floor pharmacy. Your doctor may call in the prescription, or you can bring a written prescription to the pharmacy. The pharmacy phone number is 775-356-4070. If you have any special needs such as home health care or home medical equipment, the case management department will assist you with these needs during the discharge process. Please call them at 775-356-4005 if you have any questions.
