The Emergency Department (ED) at Northern Nevada Medical Center (NNMC) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide emergency medical care to residents of Sparks, Reno, Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas of Nevada and California.

A new freestanding ED is coming to Northwest Reno in 2020. ER at McCarran NW an Extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center will offer the same high-quality care as our hospital ER in a convenient location.

Sudden illness or injury can occur without warning, and while no one typically plans a trip to the ED, everyone should know what to expect after they arrive.
Heart Attack Care
NNMC has received the Mission: Lifeline® Gold Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association® for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. Also, the Chest Pain Center at NNMC has been accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care for its ability to assess, diagnose, and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.
The Advanced Primary Stroke Center at NNMC has been recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association with the Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. This award recognizes NNMC's commitment and success in implementing a high standard of stroke care by ensuring that its stroke patients receive treatment that meets nationally accepted, evidence-based standards and recommendations.
